Simple EZGO Golf Cart Guide to determine what model and year Cart you have.
A EZGO Cart from 1976-1993 is called the Marathon. Take a look at the manufacturer’s number on a metal plate below the passenger side glove compartment. In the Manufacture Number there’s a two digit year code hidden, ex. 82 is 1982.
EZGO Golf Cart from 1994-1995 is called the Medalist. Comes stock with a metal body. The Year is determined by a two digit year code, ex. 94, hidden inside the Manufacture Number on the metal plate inside the passenger side glove compartment.
1996 and up is the TXT EZGO. Comes stock with a plastic body. The year is determined by a two digit year code, ex. 98, hidden in the Manufacture number on the metal plate inside the passenger side glove compartment. Electric TXT EZGOs come in normal, DCS (Drive Control System) and PDS models.
With 2001.5 and newer EZGOs they changed the steering mechanism. Many 2001’s have the old style while other 2001’s have the new type. The later 2001.5s has a steering rack that sits on top of the front axle. Older style EZGOs haave a black arm that comes straight down from a silver steering box.
The way to determine the model of your Electric TXT EZGO golf cart:
On the passenger’s side, under the seat, there is a black rectangular cover over the motor controller. If your cover does not have a switch on it than it is a normal, “series” cart.
If your EZGO has a switch on the controller cover, you will need to take the cover off to determine. DCS controllers have a white 10-pin connector on the top. PDS EZGOs controllers have two 5-pin connectors on the front. With PDS EZGO carts you can add a chip that will make them go faster or ad more torque for hill climbing.
I am to find out how I can get a diagram of the drive mechanism and specifications of a 1988 marathon electric golf cart. I would appreciate any help that you could give me. Thank You
